It is a BASIC starters course in 10 (+1) lessons, which will provide you in skills and inspirations.

Each course is a basic training in 10 lessons (+1) on a weekly basis.
An evening session takes 2,5 hours and together
with 5 fellow students you follow a course in 3 months.
The course is based on professional sewing- techniques
so you can develop your own style and methods later on.
After 5 lessons we take a holiday,( 2 weeks in Midwinter and 2 x 1 week in the Spring) so you will have enough time to prepare the second part of your training in the TEXTILE ZONE.

THE TEXTILE ZONE is especially developed for starters by Désirée Jonkers.
The course is held in STUDIO 24 (J.d.Bosch Kemperpad 24, 1054 PL Amsterdam-West) and you don't have to bring anything; because the STUDIO provides, machines, materials, patterns etcetera. It also includes the possibility to come to extra classes which are held on a Saturday (max. 2 lessons) For these provisions you pay extra: administration costs (price= € 50,00).

FIRST LESSON Short introduction. The routing and mapping in d.i.y.-fashion; measurements in ready-to-wear and measurements in couture or handmade fashion. We decide what we want to make. SECOND LESSON Mostly about Fabrics and the shape of our pattern; what do we have to alter; what are our focus points? THIRD LESSON how to cut fabric and the preparations before the compilation starts. FOURTH LESSON the use of the sewing machines! Best if you have one at home too! We start exercising and stitching easy pieces together. FROM THE FIFTH LESSON From the fifth evening on we will start sewing your garment. Each lesson will bring you new techniques and details about production. You get two weeks off to prepare the construction sessions. We like to end the course with a completed piece and are looking forward to some sort of presentation or photo-shoot.

THE SCHEDULE 2012

MIDWINTERCOURSE ( time 19.00-21.30 hours)
JANUARI, FEBRUARI, MARCH

Monday evening: start on 2nd of Januari 2012. The classes are:
09.01; 16.01; 23.01; 30.01; 20.02; 27.02; 05.03; 12.03; 19.03
Extra or spare lesson: Saturday 10th march from 10.00-15.00 hours (max 2 lessons).

The Tuesday evening starts on the 3th of Januari 2012. The classes are:
10.01; 17.01; 24.01; 31.01; 21.02; 08.02; 06.03; 13.03; 20.03
Extra or spare lesson: Saturday 10th March from 10.00-15.00 hours (max 2 lessons).

Spring course (time 19.00 - 21.30 hours)

The Monday evening starts on 2nd of April 2012. The classes are:
08.04; 16.04; 23.04; 07.05; 14.05; 21.05; 28.05; 11.06; 18.06
Extra or Spare lesson: Saturday 8th of June 2012 From 10.00 - 15.00 hours (max. 2 lessons).

In spring we have our annual QUEENSDAY OF
(30.04) en the second is planned on 04.06.
We can decide together whether or not we held classes on the eastern and pentecote weekends.

The Tuesday evening starts on the 3th of April. The classes are:
The classes are: 10.04; 01.04; 24.04; 08.05; 15.05; 22.05; 29.05; 05.06; 19.06.
Extra or spare lesson; Saturday 8th of June 2012 Time: 10.00- 15.00 hours.

In July and August there are NO BASIC COURSES.

The Autumn Course will start round about the 10th or the 11th of September. The schedule will be announced and published approximately during the SPRING.

Extended Classes or Lessons for experienced Seamstresses or Tailors are not scheduled.
